É um romance histórico no período da escravidão e conta com Frederick e Silviano como personagens principais.
Um é rico desde sempre, arrogante, vaidoso, tem um casamento socialmente invejável com Lise, manipula as pessoas e o dinheiro em benefício próprio e “o melhor para sua família”.
O segundo é 50% escravo, era um boiadeiro conceituado, queria porque queria se dar bem na vida e conseguiu quando se casou com Sophia. Ao se deparar com toda a vaidade e ganância do mundo que escolheu, se decepcionou.
Os dois se tornam amigos inseparáveis, sócios nos negócios, enriquecem juntos e trocavam segredos das mulheres que lhes atraiam.
Tudo estava indo bem até que Frederick conhece Josephine e a história começa a ganhar “plot twist carpado” um atrás do outro.
O livro é espírita mais voltado para a Umbanda, pois a parte espiritual fica por conta dos pretos velhos, principalmente de Sebastião e Zulmira.
“Mais não tem nada de Espiritismo de Allan Kardec, Ju?” Tem sim. E nessa parte me pareceu que alguém deve ter feito a mesma pergunta para a autora, ela se jogou em todos os conceitos kardequianos e não parou mais. Essa foi a minha impressão.
A leitura é de fácil acesso, truncada no começo e fluí depois. Eu gostei do livro e no fim tudo encaixou direitinho.
Foi meu primeiro contato com a autora e gostei bastante. Maria Nazareth Dória que me aguarde que vou me jogar nos seus livros. 😛
