Objetivando orientar o homem de acordo com os desígnios da Misericórdia divina, apresentando reflexões sobre as situações cotidianas à guisa dos ensinamentos e bondade celestes, A caminho da luz é obra merecedora de leitura e estudo para os que buscam compreender nosso mundo. Nesta inestimável obra, o Espírito Emmanuel narra a história da humanidade sob a luz do Espiritismo, apresentando-nos acontecimentos e experiências que vão desde a gênese planetária até as perspectivas para o futuro da Humanidade, elucidando-nos a posição e a importância do Evangelho do Cristo diante da ciência, das religiões e das filosofias terrenas.
Por 25 capítulos o livro vai caminhando e comentando sobre as civilizações a luz do Espiritismo, ou seja, o ser humano e as religiões ao longo do tempo. Foi lançado um pouco depois de Brasil, a Pátria do Evangelho.
Começa ainda no mundo dos espíritos, fala de Deus e seus ensinamentos que foram serem modificados a bel prazer ao longo do tempo, os primeiros moradores da Terra, como a lua foi criada, o sistema de capela e como ocorreu a grande transição para o ser das cavernas para o humano que conhecemos hoje.
Também comenta as diversas culturas ao redor do mundo dando os exemplos do Egito e suas pirâmides e o seu culto a morte, da Índia e sua forte energia espiritual, de Israel e seu judaísmo, da China e o legado de Confúcio e Lao-Tsé, a Grécia, Atenas e a missão de Sócrates e o povo europeu e as origens do racionalismo.
Tudo isso antes do Cristianismo, depois fala sobre o nascimento de Jesus, os desvios do império romano e o começo e a evolução da edificação cristã, o surgimento da igreja, os abusos de poder do poder religioso e o início, começo e fim da idade média.
Depois o livro se volta para a revolução francesa, o nascimento de Allan Kardec, e assim, o surgimento do Espiritismo, suas grandes transições e modificações, os preconceitos da Igreja e o que será da América e do evangelho futuramente.
Mesmo a obra sendo antiga, o texto é de fácil entendimento e flui de boas, tanto que é possível ler em um dia mesmo tendo bastante informação. A narrativa vai em uma crescente, é truncado inicialmente e depois anda melhor.
O que mais me chamou a atenção é a atualidade de A Caminho da Luz. A sensação é que Chico e Emmanuel escreveram esse livro ontem.
Sem entrar no mérito de questão política, um dos últimos capítulos fala sobre armamento / desarmamento e o livro foi feito em 1939 e tipo: É absurdamente atual. É chocante e fantástico ao mesmo tempo.
