Um romance emocionante, atual, que prende a atenção e surpreende pelos caminhos percorridos. Calisto, um rico executivo de alto escalão, não se apega a nada e a ninguém, à exceção de sua filha Aurora, pela qual nutre um grande amor paternal que transcende a vida atual, e a qual lhe esconde um segredo que o fará sofrer. Rigoroso com sua esposa e com seus funcionários, Calisto vive seus dias, no alto de sua arrogância, contando os minutos que pode parar para ouvir o próximo, seja nas questões pessoais, seja nas questões profissionais. Seu único amigo é seu gato azul russo Panthro. Porém a vida lhe proporcionará uma experiência, além da vida, com a qual terá a chance de rever sua conduta, seus desafetos, seus amores.
A obra é um romance espiritualista, se passa no Rio Grande do Sul e possui Calisto como protagonista, onde o rapaz é um importante executivo e com todos os afazeres cronometrados…tanto com seus funcionários quanto com a família, principalmente com sua filha Aurora.
Além disso, vive em contantes discussões com a mãe da sua filha e sua única atenção sem limite é para o gato Panthro. Por causa disso, um dia cai no meio da rua e entra em coma profundo.
A partir de então, o leitor passa a acompanhar o desenrolar dos acontecimentos com Calisto tendo o chamado Experiência de Quase Morte, ou seja, quando o espírito sai do corpo enfermo e vai passeando e conversando por aí. E então conhece o seu mentor chamado Josué e a jornada de abrir os olhos espirituais profundamente se inicia. Com isso, é abordado sobre o livre arbítrio, reconhecimento do egoísmo e da extrema vaidade, necessidade de cuidar mais da família, pois neste tempo, a própria filha descobre uma questão rara e o quanto a sua saúde é frágil e debilitada e quem está lendo também vai aprendendo toda vez mais um pouquinho, inclusive com seus encontros espirituais, explicações do espírito Josué e do mundo espiritual como um todo.
Depois de um bom tempo, Calisto acorda do coma e vê sua vida virar de cabeça para baixo. Sem memória física, sem se lembrar dos fatos acontecidos enquanto estava em coma, sabendo que sua empresa seguia o baile sem ninguém sentindo a sua falta, a filha acaba desencarnando devido a sua saúde ter sido extremamente frágil e ele nunca ter se ligado e o livro como um todo entra em uma nova fase e um pouco dúbia também. Pois em um determinado dia, ele decide largar tudo e viajar somente com seu gato. Para em um local abandonado chamado Flor do Deserto de Íris e também conhece a própria Ìris. A afinidade é instantânea e junto vão crescendo aos poucos e um auxiliando o outro quanto ao autoconhecimento.
Enquanto na primeira parte, a questão do livre arbítrio era totalmente latente, por aqui fica a dúvida se o mesmo cometeu suicídio, se já tinha morrido e não sabia, se desencarnou no momento que caiu na rua e foi escolha da Espiritualidade ir indo aos poucos por Calisto ser extremamente materialista e autoritário. Ou seja: Fica a critério do leitor escolher os fatos real oficial, mesmo a autora deixando algumas várias pistas do meio para o fim.
Além destes fatos, Medo de Amar também comenta sobre os apegos e desapegos, o verdadeiro amor e a caridade, o deixar ir, a importância da resiliência e o auxílio dos animais em todos os momentos.
O texto é de fácil entendimento e a leitura é fluída, envolvente e pausas são necessárias para reflexões, principalmente mais para o final quando a nuvem da dúvida surge e não sai nunca mais e dos temas do cotidiano também. Por fim, você quer colocar Aurora em um potinho e não soltar nunca mais.
