Eles são presos em ações distintas e encarcerados junto a outros nove companheiros, de forma que não possam sequer falar um com o outro. Ao longo dos anos, o trio busca meios de sobreviver não só à tortura, mas também ao encarceramento que fez com que ficassem completamente alheios à sociedade, sem a menor ideia se um dia seriam soltos.
O filme é sobre a história real dos uruguaios Mauricio Rosencof, Eleuterio Fernández Huidobro e José Mujica. Os três lutam contra a ditadura militar local e ficam presos por 12 anos sem acesso a praticidade nada.
Ao longo da narrativa vamos acompanhando as suas evoluções, provações, obsessões para enlouquecerem e seus temores.
Um dos integrantes é José Mujica que foi presidente do Uruguai entre 2010 e 2015, continuou com a sua vida simples e com o seu fusca.
Um fato interessante é que o Mujica se considera ateu e, na prática, é mais espírita que muitos que são da Doutrina, inclusive eu mesma. 😛
