A Caminho do Céu gira em torno de Geu Ru (Tang Joon-Sang), um jovem portador da síndrome de Asperger que, após a morte de seu pai, conhece seu tio Sang Gu (Je-Hoon Lee), um ex-criminoso que ele nunca tinha visto antes. Agora guardião legal do sobrinho, Sang Gu assume o controle de uma empresa conhecida como Move To Heaven, que costumava ser administrada por seu falecido irmão. Ambos em luto, Geu Ru e Sang Gu passam a trabalhar juntos como “limpadores de traumas”, isto é, organizam os itens deixados por pessoas que não estão mais neste mundo. Agora, tio e sobrinho descobrem histórias não contadas associadas aos mortos e seus familiares, compartilhando não só emoções, como também as memórias que guardam de seu ente querido. Aos poucos, eles vão compreender o real significado das noções de vida, morte e espírito de família.
A série coreana possui 10 episódios com duração de, na média, 50 minutos cada e tem Han Geu-Ru como protagonista. O menino tem síndrome de Asperger (O mesmo problema do protagonista de Atypical – Post aqui) e trabalha com seu pai na empresa de limpeza de traumas chamado A Caminho do Céu.
A empresa tem como objetivo encaminhar e finalizar espiritualmente os últimos momentos do espírito no seu local de falecimento e isso inclui limpeza e resgate dos seus pertences. Tudo com muito respeito ao desencarnado.
Tudo começa com um jovem que sofre um acidente no trabalho, não consegue socorro e morre no quarto sozinho sem auxílio. Tanto filho quanto pai vão ao local, recolhem seus pertences, limpam a cena e entregam os “últimos momentos” aos familiares.
Após isso, Han Geu-Ru acaba ficando órgão também de pai porque o mesmo sofre uma parada cardíaca e desencarna. A partir de então, o jovem fica a tutela do seu tio chamado Jo Sang Goo, recém liberto da prisão.
Com a vida toda estruturada até então, Geu-Ru precisa lidar com as novidades da sua vida pessoal ao mesmo tempo que necessita continuar o trabalho na A Caminho do Céu, agora contando com a participação do tio e da sua vizinha e amiga inseparável Son Yu Rim.
Sendo assim, os casos continuam acontecendo, as limpezas e auxílios também. Além disso, o telespectador, ao longo dos episódios, vai descobrindo o motivo da prisão do tio, as lembranças do passado dos dois e o surgimento de uma amizade e ligação estreita e importante entre tio e sobrinho.
Um fato curioso e de extremamente reflexívo é que: Mesmo lidando com cenas de traumas e limpezas de outros amigos recém desencarnados, o rapaz vai deixando para depois a limpeza dos acessórios e o encaminhamento espiritual do seu próprio pai.
