Ainda Estou Aqui acompanha a jovem Tessa (Joey King), que passou sua infância entre abrigos para menores, e não acredita que pode viver um amor verdadeiro. Tudo muda quando ela conhece e começa a namorar Skylar (Kyle Allen), um morador da cidade vizinha bem romântico. Juntos, eles passam por um acidente de carro que tira a vida de Skylar. Depois da morte do amado, a jovem passa a acreditar que ele está tentando se comunicar com ela do outro mundo. A história de amor sobrenatural é baseada em um livro e conta com a presença de Joey King (A Barraca do Beijo) e Kyle Allen (O Mapa das Pequenas Coisas Perfeitas).
O mesmo possui o casal Tessa e Skylar e estava tudo certo até os dois sofrerem um acidente de carro, ele vir a falecer e ela ficar em estado grave.
A partir de então, o telespectador começa a acompanhar o despertar da moça e também os dias antes do ocorrido e como o casal se conheceu. Ou seja: O filme passa indo e voltando no tempo praticamente a narrativa inteira.
Ainda internada, Tessa começa a receber a visita do já desencarnado, porém, ainda apegado e sem entendimento Skylar. Depois de liberada, Tessa inicia sua jornada de recuperação, luto e de esclarecimento do que poderia ter acontecido. Além disso, ainda busca comunicações espirituais para saber se é real o namorado morto estar aparecendo para ela. Em uma dessas, conhece uma senhora muito espiritualizada que informa que, em breve, ele entenderá a situação e não aparecerá mais. Em outras palavras: Daqui a pouco, Skylar iria entender sua situação, a importância de ser socorrido, de se cuidar e iria ficar somente no mundo espiritual.
Com o passar dos dias, Tessa também começa a sofrer de obsessão, onde o surgimento é bem sutil e depois torna-se mais agressivo, muito em função de ainda ficar em looping querendo entender o acidente, a morte do namorado e a possibilidade de se comunicar com ele pós vida. Sendo assim, regride na sua evolução física e emocional e tem um colapso para dar uma freada e melhorar, digamos assim.
O filme também fala sobre a vivência do luto, caridade, comunicações espirituais por diversos meios, a importância do desapego e do deixar ir e do orar e vigiar. Um ponto positivo e muito bonito são as fotos lindíssimas que Tessa tira e é mostrado ao telespectador com sua câmera analógica. Sabe aquela quebra para um momento de leveza? Pois então.
Ainda Estou Aqui é uma obra bem reflexiva, principalmente para quem acabou de ter um ente querido em circunstâncias semelhantes ou não. Você começa e termina o filme querendo colocar Tessa em um potinho.
