Júlio, um empresário promissor, decide sair de casa para morar com a exuberante Magali, deixando para trás quinze anos de casamento. Eugênia, a esposa, ao descobrir que havia sido abandonada, passa a acreditar que viver não vale mais a pena. Em meio a uma intensa trama, que mescla amor, crime, traição, sequestro e redenção, Eugênia e Magali terão de aprender, cada uma à sua maneira, que nada na vida acontece por acaso e que o poder da escolha é absoluto na criação de nossos destinos.
O mesmo é um romance espírita atual e tem Eugênia, Júlio e Magali como protagonistas.
Tudo começa com Eugênia querendo cometer suicídio após Júlio tê-la abandonado por meio de uma simples carta para ir viver com Magali. A mesma ajudou o rapaz a subir na vida e se tornou submissa ao longo dos anos em prol da felicidade do marido. Já Magali, é totalmente o oposto e, querendo ou não, mantém Júlio no caminho certo. O único problema é possuir um passado sombrio.
Sendo assim, o leitor acompanha os primeiros passos de Eugênia pós separação, ainda no hospital sendo cuidada e também no mundo espiritual porque não estava querendo voltar de jeito nenhum ao corpo, visto que sua missão terrena ainda não tinha se encerrado.
Com o passar dos dias e de ajuda de velhos e novos amigos, Eugênia vai se reerguendo e tomando conta das situações, entre elas, ver as reais intenções do seu irmão Alberto. O rapaz ressurge do nada com a esposa e filha querendo auxiliá-la, mas na verdade, só gostaria do dinheiro. Sem sucesso, Alberto vai atrás de Júlio e acaba firmando uma amizade estreita com Magali.
A partir de então, as narrativas vão se intercalando e se misturando entre Eugênia e seu novo mundo, inclusive ajudando crianças abandonadas em um orfanato, tendo Roberto como sua principal paixão, a ligação entre Alberto e Magali, onde existe aquela situação dos dois se entenderem e um tirar o melhor do outro de forma carinhosa e harmônica e Júlio que passa por sérios problemas de ataques espirituais e vê a necessidade de abrir os olhos espirituais para aprimoramento e amadurecimento.
As partes espirituais ficam a cargo de Marcos Vinícius, um espirito amigo muito evoluído e mentor de Rogério, que se torna muito amigo de Eugênia após os acontecimentos já comentados anteriormente.
O livro também aborda a importância do perdão, o casamento por obrigação quando se é menor, as escolhas e suas consequências, o fugir do passado fisicamente, porém, não espiritualmente, o desapego, a necessidade de abrir os olhos espirituais e o amor como um todo, sem necessariamente ser o de casal romântico e sexual.
O texto é de fácil entendimento e a leitura é mega fluída e envolvente. Depois de um tempo, a base dos livros da Zibia se tornam parecidos, porém, não deixam de ser reflexivos e com histórias belíssimas.
