E daí resolvi pegar para ler Fatos Espíritas do autor, químico e físico inglês William Crookes. Inicialmente, a obra foi escrita em 1870 quando William resolveu se aventurar nas pesquisas sobre o Espiritismo e também dos fenômenos espíritas. Hoje em dia está sendo publicado pela Autch Editora.

Nesta edição você encontrará o livro Fatos Espíritas, escrito por William Crookes. Químico e Físico inglês, Crookes foi um dos grandes estudiosos da espectroscopia e fez importantes participações para o avanço mundial. Em 1870 Crookes decidiu que a ciência tinha a obrigação de estudar os fenômenos ligados ao Espiritismo. Ele decidiu então que os estudos seriam feitos “na minha própria casa e com minha própria seleção de amigos e espectadores, sob minhas próprias condições e podendo eu fazer o que achar melhor quanto a dispositivos”. O fato de um respeitado cientista como Crookes ter se dedicado à pesquisa dos fenômenos espíritas era, obviamente, um forte motivo para se ver nesses fenômenos a comprovação da continuidade de nossa existência após a morte do corpo físico. Isso atraiu numerosos cientistas para as pesquisas desses fenômenos.
Ao todo, o livro possui 17 capítulos, mais o prefácio, introdução, fenômenos espíritas observados por William Crookes e depois a conclusão.
A obra, de modo geral, é um apanhado de todos os estudos feitos pelo autor em uma época de plena descoberta da mediunidade e do Espiritismo também. Sendo assim, ele resolveu colocar tudo em um único livro para a eternidade, digamos assim. E deu muito certo, né não!?
O primeiro capítulo aborda tudo que foi estudado entre os anos de 1870 a 1873 e publicado no Quartely Journal Of Science de janeiro de 1874. E depois passa para os estudos envolvendo as questões mediúnicas como um todo com o movimento de corpos pesados com contato mas sem esforço mecânico, fenômeno de percussão e outros sons da mesma natureza, movimentos de objetos pesados colocados a certa distância do médium, mesas e cadeiras elevadas do chão sem ninguém lhe tocar, elevação de corpos humanos, movimentos de diversos objetos sem contato, aparições luminosas, aparições de mãos, luminosas por si mesmas ou visíveis a luz ordinária, escrita direta, formas e figuras de fantasmas, casos particulares parecendo indicar a ação de uma inteligência exterior e manifestações diversas de caráter complexo.
William também mostra com exemplos as teorias expostas para explicarem os fenômenos observados, fala sobre a mediunidade da Florence Cook, as formas de espíritos com imagens e matérias de jornais, principalmente quanto as aparições do espírito Katie King.
Depois comenta sobre o relatório da comissão dos sábios que se reuniram em Milão em 1892 para estudo dos fenômenos psíquicos e dos movimentos de objetos a distância sem contato, pancadas e reprodução de sons na mesma. E por aqui, temos exemplos das questões mediúnicas daquela época, ou seja, elevação da médium sobre a mesa e cita bastante uma das irmãs Fox.
Ao longo de toda a narrativa, Crookes vai abordando os asssuntos embasado nas suas pesquisas e nos estudos feitos por Alexandre Aksakof (Post aqui e aqui), que foi outro grande estudioso dos fenômenos mediúnicos e tornou-se referência quando o tema é animismo.
O texto é de médio entendimento e a leitura é fluída, porém, não é para todo mundo. Indicado para quem já estuda sobre mediunidade e o Espiritismo e que também queira uma leitura complementar para estudo sobre os temas já referidos. E para os entusiastas das pesquisas inicias sobre a Doutrina e os dons mediúnicos é um prato cheio.
